Mike Parton - Trustee

Mike brings a wealth of financial experience to the Grit board. After starting his career as a Chartered Management Accountant, Mike worked for a number of UK technology companies including ICL, GEC, STC and Marconi.

Mike has held the roles of CEO of Marconi plc, Chairman of Damovo Group, Tele2 AB and TDC Group. He is currently Chairman of Nuuday which is Demark’s largest provider of Commications services.

'I first came across Grit (then Youth at Risk) back in 1999 as CEO of Marconi which had its HQ in Coventry where they were running a Grit community programme. I was taken by the direct, transformational approach which challenged young people to take responsibility for their lives and their future. I also saw the benefit for my staff, many of whom volunteered to be trained as coaches by Grit. I'm really excited to join the board at this important time for Grit, I have seen first-hand the benefit Grit can bring to young people in need and I would like to play my part in ensuring Grit can help as many young people as possible.
